Job Summary

This position organizes and monitors overnight on call and scheduled work. The dispatcher routes all vehicle work, enters job orders, monitors on time performance, and maintains general dispatch quality control.

  • Communicate with drivers via radio
  • Use software to dispatch and track deliveries
  • Communicate effectively with customer service
  • Monitor GPS tracking of drivers
  • Supports new customer and vendor training
  • Monitor email communication for new orders, policy and procedural changes 
  • Monitor customer websites and fax machine for incoming orders and job updates
  • Pull parts from warehouse when required


Work Environment

This job operates overnight in a demanding, high stress, center office setting, as well as a temperature controlled warehouse at times. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, push to talk radios, and warehouse equipment.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, hear, speak, hold, visually inspect, and utilize repetitive hand motions requiring finger dexterity and hand eye coordination. Employee must be able to work in a fast paced environment, handle stressful situations, lift and handle packages up to 50lbs, and maintain a professional and customer-friendly demeanor.  The ability to visually distinguish color is required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience dispatching and routing on call courier work


Required Education and Experience

Knowledge of Washington D.C. metropolitan area as well as Baltimore, Richmond, and South Central Pennsylvania

Ability to read a map and evaluate routes


Additional Eligibility Requirements

Satisfactory completion of background screening, drug screening, HIPAA training, Bloodborne Pathogen training, OSHA Warehouse training, forklift training
